Workflow Tester

Setup

Start with:

podman compose up -d

Inital setup

• Create a runner secret with:

  openssl rand -hex 20
  

• Generate the runner UUID from the secret:

  echo -n 'RUNNER_SECRET' | python -c 'import sys; import uuid;input=sys.stdin.read();print(str(uuid.UUID(bytes=input[:16].encode("utf-8"))))'
  

• Copy the runner-config-tmpl.yml and .env-tmpl and replace RUNNER_UUID and RUNNER_SECERT with the generated credentials

  cp .env-tmpl .env
  cd resources/runner && cp runner-config-tmpl.yml runner-config.yml
  

• Start with:

  podman compose up -d
  

• Connect to the forgejo container shell via podman exec -it forgejo bash or podman-desktop and execute

  cd /tmp/
  bash setup.sh
  

• This configures the runner and creates an admin user with username=test and password=testpass and creates a keypair in /resources/keys.

• Copy the ssh key to ~/.ssh

  cp resources/keys/workflow-tester ~/.ssh/
  

• Add

  # local repo
  Host localhost
          PreferredAuthentications publickey
          IdentityFile ~/.ssh/workflow-tester
  

  to ~/.ssh/config

• Push test repo with workflow to server

  git remote add origin ssh://git@localhost:2222/test/mock.git
  git push -u origin main
